Mini 1000 LE Stripey 1976, 72.200 miles £ POA
This car has had two owners from new
and has been dry stored for the last 20 years.
The Mini 1000 Special (also referred
to as the Mini 1000 Limited Edition or Stripey LE) was the first
Limited Edition Mini sold and marketed in the UK.
In the 1970's Limited Edition versions of any car model were unheard
of in the UK and therefore led the way for things to come.
The Mini 1000 Special was also the first round-nosed Mini with
eye-ball air vents, twin chrome door mirrors and reclining front
The Brooklands Green exterior colour was an MGB colour and differs
from the Brooklands Green used on the 1999 John Cooper LE. A very
rare edition indeed as very few Mini 1000 Specials exist.
This particular example is 2 owners
from new and has covered just over 77K miles. Seat covers have
been fitted and thus the interior seating is bright, undamaged
and not faded but could do with a light clean. The original carpeting
is missing but we do have a carpet set that is authentic.
The bodywork will need attention, door
skins, A panels and wings ideally need replacing as do the sills,
the floor pan has been subject to welding in a not overly professional
manner. Rear subframe has also been "patch" welded.
The previous owners has lost the keys and the ignition switch
will need replacing
The V5 is present, the engine
runs. the car will be restored by us but in view of our current
work load this could NOT be started until Autumn / Winter 2013.
This will include stripping the car to a bare
shell, full respray and replacing whatever is required to make
the car a concours example.
